INSANE ABS CHANGED MY TEENAGE LIFE!

They changed it in a subtle way, serving as a soundtrack for my many late afternoon hours back when they were rehearsing in the basement of a shared studio building we all lived at. One could hear their gentle, muffled sounds throughout the entire complex: Stefano Faoro's lazy but decisive guitar strumming and Erica Preli's rudimentary, hiccupy drumming, sometimes with hints of singing. The couple was always on the verge of a soft collapse, like a driver slowly falling asleep at the wheel while singing to himself. The tape captures a set of brief exercises, dreamy yet restrained sketches of songs played by a band that, luckily, never became technically proficient or compromised its spontaneous approach. Never change, Insane Abs – rehearse less and go to the beach more!
